Mission
The mission of Phoenix Global Health (Phoenix GH) is to improve global health outcomes through rigorous engineering, proven in real-world environments.
How We Work
A Network of Capabilities and Continuity
Phoenix GH is a multidisciplinary organization that provides an enduring technical foundation for reliable execution in global health. Projects come and go, but long-term success relies depends on maintaining continuity of technical knowledge so partners do not need to start from scratch.
Construct, Transfer, Support
For more than a decade, our team has worked with suppliers, policymakers, and national governments to diagnose problems, build systems, and prove solutions in real-world conditions. We work closely with NGOs, manufacturers, and field partners to develop strong technical specifications, improve implementations, and support scale-up. Our goal is to help partners build, test, and deploy what works, and then make sure the right groups are equipped to carry it forward.
At Phoenix GH, we hold to a simple idea: clarity comes from construction. When something is built and tested, the fog lifts: problems become visible, solutions become practical, and progress becomes real. Our team carries the knowledge of each deployment, allowing our partners to develop solutions with lower risk and increased efficiency.
Capabilities
Core Expertise
Our team brings together expertise across:
- Mechanical engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Software and firmware engineering
- Technical product development
- Design for manufacturing and technology transfer
Domain Expertise
We have deep experience in:
- Design and testing of stationary and transportable vaccine cold chain equipment (CCE)
- Voltage and power protection in low-resource environments
- CCE monitoring, data interoperability, and specification development
- WHO PQS regulatory processes
- Scalable manufacturing, from early prototypes to high-volume production
Field Deployment Support
Including our history with New Horizons, Phoenix GH has a long track record of proving and supporting solutions in real-world environments. We help partners deploy systems in challenging settings, troubleshoot issues on the ground, and gather the learning that only comes from field observations. This hands-on experience shapes our engineering approach and strengthens the support we provide to manufacturers, NGOs, and national programs.
Facilities
Phoenix GH maintains technical facilities in Seattle, Washington, including:
- Walk-in environmental chambers meeting PQS E003 temperature and humidity ranges
- Large-format CNC milling and industrial waterjet
- 3D printing and rapid prototyping tools
- Mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry capabilities
- Electrical test equipment, including tools for several PQS E007 protocols
Although these facilities are based in Seattle, our work is anything but distant. Phoenix stays closely connected to field programs in Kenya, Nigeria, and the DRC, as well as specialized laboratories in Europe and manufacturing partners across Asia. This global network helps us bring together the right capabilities at the right time, so organizations can build, test, and scale solutions that actually work in the environments where they matter most.
Organizational Structure
Phoenix GH is a Washington State nonprofit corporation with a pending 501(c)(3) application. It began with alumni of New Horizons and has grown to include a wider network of engineers, scientists, and implementers who bring practical experience across global health and technology.
